都承盤以紫檀為材，色紅而潤，造型經典，榫卯契合，淺底長方形，邊緣打窪，四角外凸，而四邊中部內凹，線條靈活，底部起陽線為飾。整器用線講究，氣韻典雅。
承盤，亦可作茶盤或文盤，淺底形的盤狀器皿，無論筆墨紙硯，還是書案香爐、菖蒲清供以及文人所用的印章等，皆可納入其中，包羅萬千。
