太湖石原产于苏州洞庭山太湖水中，为经典观赏石。明代文震亨在《长物志》中写道：“太湖石在水中者为贵，岁久被波涛冲击，皆成空石，面面玲珑。”因其透出的无穷意蕴和境界为古人倾倒，故深受古代帝王和文人雅士之爱。
英石横峰，色泽深沈，峰如菡，玲珑峭丽，天成自然。陈供以对，纳精吸华，通海连天，这心快意，俯仰其间油然而起。此石气势雄浑，似曾云叠嶂，慎密坚硬，典雅大气，石表历尽沧桑。予人浑穆古朴、凝重深沉之感。厅堂摆放佳品。
