粉彩荷花杯由景德鎮釉上彩堆金工藝大師張劍繪製。以瓷繪手法描畫盛夏之荷的磅礴與婷美，它渲染了盛夏荷生命旺期的姿態，碧葉映襯嫩粉色荷花，彷彿荷香陣陣，蜻蜓駐足。
蓮花是佛教信奉的聖物之一，佛陀出世後就走了七步，每走一步，地上便生出一朵蓮花。傳播佛教教義的地方，隨處可見蓮花的形象。蓮花圖案在南北朝、唐代，普遍運用到了建築、日常用品裝飾的各個方面。
唐朝時，文人雅士中流行以荷葉作酒杯：將剛冒出水面的新鮮荷葉連著長梗折下，用其盛酒，從莖管裡吸酒。可見文人對荷花器喜愛。
