此壶一面所錾刻龙为主纹，云为辅纹，龙在云间舞动、疾驰。云龙纹象征自然的力量。云从龙，风从虎。
另一面是錾刻凤舞九天。
云龙始见于唐宋瓷器上，如晚唐五代越窑各色瓷瓶上的云龙纹、宋定窑印花盘上在祥云间盘曲舞动的龙纹等。元、明、清时期瓷器上云龙纹更为多见。
凤，神鸟也。为群鸟之长，龙文龟背，燕颌鸡喙，五色备举，是羽虫中最美者，飞时百鸟随之，是吉祥之鸟。
此壶錾刻技艺精湛，方寸间见恢弘，南红壶摘，老红木把，相得益彰。
