粉彩荷花杯由景德镇釉上彩堆金工艺大师张剑绘制。以瓷绘手法描画盛夏之荷的磅礴与婷美，它渲染了盛夏荷生命旺期的姿态，碧叶映衬嫩粉色荷花，仿佛荷香阵阵，蜻蜓驻足。
莲花是佛教信奉的圣物之一，佛陀出世后就走了七步，每走一步，地上便生出一朵莲花。传播佛教教义的地方，随处可见莲花的形象。莲花图案在南北朝、唐代，普遍运用到了建筑、日常用品装饰的各个方面。
唐朝时，文人雅士中流行以荷叶作酒杯：将刚冒出水面的新鲜荷叶连着长梗折下，用其盛酒，从茎管里吸酒。可见文人对荷花器喜爱。
