津轻塗，在日本有300年的历史，源于青森县。那里气候寒冷潮湿，寒冷使得本地出产的木材优良。传统工艺活用斑纹的唐塗、颗粒状的图样为特征的七子塗，呈现各种色彩缤纷外观之技法非常有名。制作上极为耗时耗工，包括底漆，面漆，打磨等复杂的人工纯手工制作过程，而且为了保护传统文化，限定了传统的原料和一定区域的制作商，一般来说，二十多道纯手工工序下来，小型器物大概三个月，大型器物需要半年的制作。菠萝漆工艺品曾被京都选为贡品，风靡一时。
