The Lotus Seed Teapot is a classic traditional shape of Yixing clay teapots. Originating in the Ming Dynasty, it was first recorded in Yangxian Minghu Xi (Treatise on Yangxian Famous Teapots). The original design was modeled after the "Lotus Seed Jar" dating back to the Chongzhen reign period of the Ming Dynasty. It derives its name from the teapot’s round and plump body, which resembles a ripe lotus seed, and it also carries the auspicious implication of "continuous birth of noble sons".
This particular Lotus Seed Teapot is crafted from the rare mineral clay of old wrinkled Zhuni from Zhaozhuang, dating back to the early 1980s. The teapot body presents a warm orange-red hue, with a natural and delicate wrinkled texture, exuding a simple and elegant charm that stands the test of time. After repeated brewing and care, the texture of this aged clay gradually develops a glossy luster similar to agate. Boasting a simple and classic design, the flat lid fits seamlessly with the teapot mouth. The body is round and plump, the three-curved spout ensures smooth water flow, and the loop handle offers a comfortable grip.
