Lotus pattern
Lotus pattern, three-curved spout, jade three-ring handle, high-lifting beam woven from old rattan.
Lotus-patterned artifacts were widely used from the Northern and Southern Dynasties to the Tang and Song Dynasties. Their emotional appeal and aesthetic resonance have endured through the ages, remaining ever new!
The sense of intimacy emanating from this pattern has become ingrained in the DNA of our ancient Eastern nation.
During the Tang and Song dynasties, lotus patterns became a main decorative motif on porcelain, with double-lined blooming lotuses painted on the exterior or interior of bowls, cups, pots, and plates. Three-dimensional lotus carvings were also extremely popular.
When Buddhism was introduced to my country, the lotus became a Buddhist symbol, representing "Pure Land," symbolizing "purity," and signifying "auspiciousness." This is because the lotus's qualities and characteristics align with Buddhist doctrines: the journey from the mundane world to the pure realm, from all evil to perfect good, from the mundane to Buddhahood. This is similar to the lotus's growth in muddy waters, yet its transcendence and purity, untainted by the mud, ultimately blossoming into an incomparably beautiful flower. Therefore, the lotus became a primary decorative motif in Buddhist art.
The beauty of harmony
The overall design is rounded and full, presenting a harmonious beauty. The circle is an important spiritual archetype in Chinese culture and an indispensable factor in revealing the secrets of Chinese art. From ancient times to the present, the circle has also had a significant presence in the everyday utensils of the Chinese people. This perfectly rounded teaware exudes auspiciousness and a unique refinement. Its aesthetic value often surpasses its practical use, perhaps precisely because of the spiritual connotations it carries.
