This set of shadow-carved golden bell cups is crafted by Xu Zhijun, a inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage of hand-painted porcelain from Jingdezhen, China.
The glaze resembles the sky after rain—crystal-clear and warm, with a distinct blue hue in the areas of accumulated glaze, pure and translucent with rich tonal variations. It feels smooth and sturdy to the touch, and emits a clear, melodic ring when tapped.
The chrysanthemum-petal rim originated in the Tang Dynasty, gained popularity during the Five Dynasties, Song, Yuan, and Ming periods, and continued to be produced in the Qing Dynasty.
The vessel features elegantly raised and recessed rib patterns, neatly arranged and seamlessly integrated. The rim and foot are adorned with gold detailing. The cup stands gracefully and elegantly, with its flared petal mouth exuding a three-dimensional, delicate beauty.
