Enamel-Decorated Brewing Teapot with Scrolling Lotus,
This enamel-decorated brewing teapot with scrolling lotus is a collaborative work by Master Zhang Jian and other master artisans specializing in Jingdezhen overglaze decoration and piled gold techniques.

The porcelain painting of this teapot features brushstrokes as fine as hair, reaching an extraordinary level of delicacy.

Scrolling Lotus Pattern

The exterior is adorned with enamel-painted scrolling lotus interspersed with longevity characters, with clear and distinct leaf veins.
The branches and vines of the lotus wind gracefully, elegant and full of dynamism, matched with a brilliant color scheme, and accented with golden string patterns on the outer wall.
As its structure stretches continuously without interruption, it symbolizes endless vitality — for this reason, the scrolling branch pattern is also known as the Longevity Vine.
The lotus is one of the sacred symbols in Buddhism.
According to legend, when the Buddha was born, he took seven steps, and a lotus blossomed on the ground with each step he took.
Lotus images can be seen everywhere in places where Buddhist teachings are spread.
In the Tang Dynasty, lotus patterns were refined, transformed and artistically recreated.Combined with Tang grass patterns and the Longevity Vine, they evolved into the scrolling lotus pattern, which was widely applied to the decoration of architecture and daily utensils.

Enamel Porcelain

Beyond its intricate and exquisite painting, the Guyuexuan Palace Lantern teapot and matching cups require four separate kiln firings to complete, with the risk of failure in each firing.
In the Qing Dynasty, enamel porcelain was originally a treasure exclusively for the appreciation of emperors and empresses.
Enamel is a special colored pigment made by artificial firing.
Before the 6th year of the Yongzheng reign (1728), enamel materials had to be imported from Europe. After that year, the Imperial Workshop of the Qing Court successfully developed more than 20 kinds of enamel pigments independently.Enamel porcelain represents the pinnacle of ancient Chinese polychrome porcelain craftsmanship.
