古时候，印章通称为玺。到秦统一中国后，只有天子之印称为玺，其余的都称印。到了汉代，诸侯王称玺，将军称章，其余称为印。明代以后，寿山石、青田石成为印章的主要材质，印章在刻制上容易起来，于是在书画家、文人乃至官员中普及开来。
此章用巴林冻石为料，石质柔和，坚而不脆，色泽纯黄，集细、洁、润、腻、温、凝六大要素于一身，金石界素有“一寸福黄三寸金”之说。此方巴林石瑞兽方章，造型端正大气，线条华丽流畅，令人爱不释手。
