Iron-Red Gaiwan with Green Plum Blossoms,
Crafted from fine porcelain clay, this gaiwan features a neat, dignified form and meticulous finishing. It undergoes a complex three-firing process: first, the white porcelain body is high-temperature fired; then, an iron-red glaze is applied and the piece is low-temperature fired; finally, gold-painted ice crackle patterns are added on the iron-red ground, and it is fired a third time to completion.
The hue of iron-red is neither as ostentatious as pure red nor as glaring as yellow, but lies perfectly between the two, exuding a unique and understated beauty.
